George Arnold Raimo, a cherished member of his community, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida, just days short of his 90th birthday. Born on April 24, 1935, in White Plains, New York, George lived a life that exemplified hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

George's remarkable journey began with his education at White Plains High School in White Plains, New York and later attended Pace College in Westchester, New York, where he graduated in 1968. He had a passion for sports, which led him to pitch for the New York Yankees in the minor leagues during the early 1950s. This connection to baseball was an inflection point in his life, inspiring him as he moved into public service as the past mayor of Wingdale, New York. His commitment to helping others continued throughout his career as a recreational counselor at the juvenile detention center in Wingdale, where he touched countless lives.

George proudly served his country in the military as a Military Police officer in the army. This experience added to his character and instilled in him a sense of duty which he carried into all areas of his life.

In 2005, George retired and relocated to Crawfordville, Florida, where he continued to build a beautiful life surrounded by family and friends.

He is survived by his two beloved children, Brenda King and Mark Raimo, and his devoted partner, Patricia Coleman Gardella. Patricia brought her three children—Ann Barbera, Bruce Barbera, and Brian Barbera—into George's life, enriching the family ties that continued to grow. George was a proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and was also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His family often spoke of the joy he brought into their lives, and they will hold dear the memories they created together.

George was predeceased by his parents, George and Virginia Raimo, and his son, David George Raimo. His legacy will forever be remembered by those he leaves behind, who will carry his spirit in their hearts. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
