Gerald “Jerry” Swank, 62, of Quincy, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving husband, family, and close friends.
A native of Canton, Illinois, and a longtime Florida resident, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Gerald Swank, and his sister, Linda Fleming. He is survived by his beloved husband and soulmate of 36 years, Rev. Dr. Joseph Parramore.
Jerry was a devoted member of the Board of New Journey Fellowship and Ministries and a passionate social justice advocate for over 30 years. He dedicated his life to uplifting those who are disenfranchised and marginalized, playing a vital role in shaping programs, initiatives, and legislation aimed at creating a more just and compassionate society.
With more than 35 years of public service, Jerry spent the last 33 years at the Florida Department of Revenue. There, he led the development of innovative training, professional development programs, and communication strategies that enriched the workplace and empowered countless colleagues.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at United Church of Tallahassee, 1834 Mahan Dr. Tallahassee, Florida 32308. There will be no formal visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice (Donate - Big Bend Hospice Foundation) or the United Church of Tallahassee (United Church of Christ) (Giving — United Church in Tallahassee).
