Jimmie Wesley Henderson

Jimmie Henderson, age 84, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on July 25, 2026 in Tallahassee. Jimmie was born on April 14, 1942, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to now deceased Alga Henderson and Lizzie Mae Griffin Henderson.

Jimmie's greatest love was his family, especially his children. He is survived by his daughters, Veda Richards, and Melissa Henderson; his sons, Keith, Eddie, and Matt Henderson; and his cherished daughter, Ashley Duncan.

Alongside his children, Jimmie dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren in Bainbridge, Georgia, and Zephyrhills and Bonifay, Florida. He was also blessed with a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Family gatherings and time spent with those he loved most brought him immense happiness and were among the greatest joys of his life.

Jimmie also deeply cherished his stepdaughters, Diane VunCannon of North Carolina, and Debi Williams and Christie Childs of Tallahassee, Florida. Through them, he was blessed with eight grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He treasured every moment spent with them at ball games, family gatherings or Holidays and held each of them close to his heart.

An avid outdoorsman, Jimmie had a lifelong passion for fishing and often joked that he loved it more than eating. Some of his happiest memories were made on the water, spending countless hours, and sometimes entire nights, fishing with his best friend, Gene Radney.

Jimmie proudly served for more than 20 years as a firefighter with Decatur County Fire and Rescue. He loved his work and considered his fellow firefighters a second family. Together, they shared many unforgettable experiences, from moments of laughter and friendship to challenging situations that forged lasting bonds and deep respect.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Henderson of Tallahassee, Florida, as well as his sisters, Freddie Mooney and Janet Musgrove of Georgia. Their love, support, and cherished memories will continue to honor his legacy.

Jimmie also leaves behind his beloved dog, Dottie, who was his faithful companion and constant shadow. Their special bond brought him comfort, companionship, and unconditional love throughout the years.

Jimmie will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his dedication to serving others, his passion for fishing, and the kindness and friendship he shared with all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. In keeping with Jimmie’s wishes there will not be a funeral or memorial service.
