Leland Dwayne Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 18th, 2025 at the age of 58 in Tallahassee. Born on January 30, 1967, in Douglas, Oregon, at Douglas Community Hospital, Leland lived a life full of love, creativity, and service.
In 1984, Leland joined the Army National Guard and proudly completed the Combat Medical Specialist course at the Academy of Health Science. His commitment to helping others and his country was just one of the many ways he showed his strength and selflessness.
Leland was a man of many talents. He had a gift for working with his hands and a passion for creating—whether it was intricate shrimp boats made entirely out of wooden popsicle sticks or sketches from his younger years that showcased his artistic soul. He was a builder, a craftsman, and a dreamer who found joy in turning simple materials into something meaningful and beautiful.
He loved the outdoors—especially fishing and hunting—and cherished time spent with friends and family. Nothing made him happier than living close to his grandchildren and sharing moments with the people he loved most.
Leland was preceded in death by his father Lester Dwayne Jones, mother Lavern Jannette Narcum, sister Sandra Ann Jones, and nephew Jessie Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife Pamela Leigh Joyner, his daughters Leigh Ann Castor (Scott) and Alice Marie Joyner (Chris Wieczorek), and his adored grandchildren: Amber, Christopher, Kayleigh, Liam, Austin, Ryley, and Cody. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Jones (May) and their children Keith, Joshua, and Samantha.
Leland will be remembered for his warm heart, creative spirit, and the way he made everyone around him feel like family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
