Sneads

Tami (Edenfield) Powell died peacefully on April 25, 2026 surrounded by the love and support of those closest to her. She filled 53 years with an abundance of love and laughter, and she will be remembered for the lasting impact she made on the lives of those who knew her best.

Tami was a loving wife to her husband and best friend, John Coy Powell, and a devoted source of encouragement and support to her three children (Aleisha, Michaela, Josh). She was a chosen sister and auntie to her best friend Quesha, and her family, as well as a trusted mentor and colleague to the students and staff she impacted through her work at the Jackson Alternative School. She had an unwavering commitment to helping others realize their best selves, and she instilled in her children, and students, a belief that “no dream is too big” with hard work, dedication, and the courage to savor the journey along the way.

Tami was a lifelong athlete and music enthusiast, lettering in volleyball, basketball, softball, and band at her alma mater (Sneads High School). She was a collegiate scholar-athlete (softball) at Gulf Coast Community College and paved the way for a strong family history of achievement. Tami was a relentless supporter of her kids’ dreams, encouraging her two daughters’ pursuit of higher education and college softball careers, and nurturing her young son’s creativity as he mastered even the most complex LEGO creations.

Tami was predeceased by her father, Roy Edenfield. She is survived by her husband (John), children (Aleisha, Michaela, Josh), mother (Mary Edenfield), two sisters (Angela Campbell, Teresa Edenfield Fecteau), and a devoted tribe of dear friends whom she considered family.

Tami’s life was defined by her loving heart, her resilience and strength, and the care she gave so freely to those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those privileged to know and love her.
